Autographed Make-up by ONE DIRECTION Giveaway

The One Direction “limited edition” makeup line, advertised as “bold, mischievous, vivid” and “everything you need” is an ensemble of slightly better-than drugstore cosmetics is now available at Macy's. The Up All Night collection includes a 4+1 eye shadow palate, a black volumizing mascara, an aqua metallic nail varnish, a glittery pink lip gloss, a crème pink lipstick, a decorator stencil set, and a navy eye pencil/ body crayon. This makeup line was inspired by One Direction’s albums, Midnight Memories, Take Me Home, and Up All Night. Therefore, each product is named after a song from the chart topping albums. The collection is in an attractive and modern collectable tin box featuring the members of the band and looks that could be created with the products. 


4+1 Eye Shadow Palette 
The eye shadow palate includes four colors, silver- “Gotta Be You,” soft pink- “More Than This,” turquoise shimmer- “Save You Tonight,” and royal blue- “Another World.” It also includes a sapphire glitter named after One Direction’s bestselling album, Up All Night. All of the colors were very pigmented and sensitive to the skin. However, the glitter “crème” was short lasting and had an odd, sticky texture.


“Stand Up” Navy Eye Pencil/ Body Crayon and “Little Black Dress” Mascara
This eye pencil/ body crayon has multi-functions; it can be used as liner, shadow, or body art. Overall, it glides on smoothly and is pigment-rich. The “Little Black Dress” Mascara was [fairly] volumizing as advertised and went on evenly.


 “I Should Have Kissed You” Lipstick and “Taken” Lip-gloss
Both of these pigments were uneasy to the eye. The “I Should Have Kissed You” lipstick was not the as- advertised bubble gum, but a chalky, unattractive, neon pink. It also did not apply evenly, emphasizing blemishes and imperfections. The “Taken” Lip-gloss surely took me away when I first applied it. It stuck like molasses and felt as if I had bubble gum stuck to my lips. On the contrary, it is highly pigmented and uniquely glows orange under UV lights, which was surprising and impressive. However, I do believe that the creators should have chosen a different color for both the normal gloss and the pigment when under UV light. Thankfully, it is a more doable color in the Midnight Memories collection.

“Na Na Na” Nail VarnishThe “Na, Na, Na” nail varnish is a metallic turquoise featuring specs of golden dust. Although it has an attractive color and dried fairly quickly, the nail varnish fails to be highly pigmented unlike the rest of the collection. In order to have a somewhat presentable nail, you must apply at least four layers of varnish, which was a letdown.
